Alcohol permit

To get alcohol for drinking, one had to have a permit.  The permit had a limit by time.  Since I didn’t drink, my permit was highly desired whenever there was going to be a party.  Party organizers would collect everyone’s permits and get the load of alcohol that would be made available at the party.  No single permit got very much alcohol, so the larger the number of permits used, the more booze.   Of course, I was always invited to these parties, and I always showed up.  Since I was the supervisor of a large and highly respected department, politically, I needed to show my face and then disappear so that the employees could party, uninhibited by a boss.
