These ads have been collected by Brent C.  Schapansky and listed here for the purpose of showing condition and price for comparison shoppers.   No claim is made that these bikes actually existed, were sold, were described properly, or much of anything else.   They were "lifted" and pasted.   Then an attempt was made to delete the contact info so that a seller won't get called about a bike that was sold a year ago.   No attempt has been made to correct spelling or grammar.   No claim is made that these prices are representative of anything. 

Date: Wed, 16 Jul 2003 20:12:46 -0400   Subject: ibmwr-ads For Sale 1977 R100S w/ 26K MILES Category: Airhead R- bikes for sale 1977 R100S w/ 26K MILES I bought this bike to tide me over between bikes.  I know, it dosen't make much sense.  However, I find the riding position a little aggressive for my present physical condition, i.e.  over weight and out of shape, so I think I would like to sell or trade it to a good home.  In cosmetic and mechanical condition I would give this bike an 8+ to 9 I suppose.  It does have some chips and scratches in the paint here and there.  It has a very nice and functional Don Vesco Rabid Transit fairing presently mounted and painted to match the red pinstriped body work.  Yes, I have a correct "S" fairing, windshield and mounting hardware in unpainted new condition as well as the original headlight, turn signals and stalks.  There is also a taller windscreen for the Rabid Transit fairing.  The bike comes with a freshly cleaned and oiled K&N air filter, what I believe to be a C&C fork brace, freshly rebuilt forks with new seals and bumpers, crush washers, Progresive springs and 7.5 weight fork oil.  New Dunlop 591s, Koni shocks, Dyna electronic ignition, Thunderchild diode board and voltage regulator and a Odyssey sealed battery.  It does have bags and mounts.  One bag has a repaired crack in it.  Rearsplines look fine and are greased, clutch feels good and brakes are so so .  Rear are dry (no rear drive oil leaks) and will lock the wheel if you jam it good.  Fronts got oil on the pads from the fork seals prior to replacement.  I cleaned them but I think they will need to be replaced to get optimum breaking performance.  Also has a Reynolds ride off stand.  Drive train fluids just changed with synthetic gear lube and 20/50 Castrol in the motor.  Just synced the carbs.  Starts instantly, really runs wonderful and sounds great with new BUB mufflers.  Has the tool kit and tire pump too.  This thing is geared (from the factory) to run high speeds all day long and is ready to go accross the USA .  I know I am forgetting some things.  I can email some pictures to the seriously interested or try the link.  Fly in and ride it home or maybe I ride it to you and you buy my plane ticket home.  I can ship the exrta parts.  I might consider trades for a /5 or an airhead GS maybe other interesting trade? Authentic, matching numbers,fewer than 250 brought into US.  White paint, red/blue/blue striping, original (blue) seat.  Within the last 500+ miles, I have had the Metzelers replaced, new battery, new starter plate, new Koni shocks, rear drive complete replaced with an original that was in excellent condition.  Strictly certified BMW maintained.  Within the past year I have replaced F&B brakes, redone the forks/seals, replaced the dash (had a small crack between the two faces).  I am the 4th owner, the previous rode it only once and then started taking it apart to restore it.  I picked it up in pieces and it is happily revived and runs like a top -sounds like a sewing machine! When I got it, it had 215-K miles on it, it now has + 6,000 miles after having the engine/carbs/timing/throttle cables, etc--etc-etc torn apart.  Original tools and lock.  Responsibly riden for the pleasure of riding a great bike.  Dowco cover.  I have two sets of white Krauser hardbags, one set comes with the bike.  The only things not done (ie: loose restoration-wise overall) are the paint (not necessary for a while) and part#: 36311236208, source= BM, noted as _1981 coupling_, to completely compliment the rear drive complete I just had put in.  (est part cost = $75).  Two small cracks above license plate in fiberglass and one small corner damage on the clutch side of the bike on the removable fiberglass section at bikes center by/below front of seat.  Selling this bike is a delayed sacrifice for me.  Digital Pictures are/can be made available.  Asking price is $5,000.  OBO.  Price: $5,000._obo_ Location: Seacoast NH

Date: Wed, 1 Oct 2003 17:05:28 -0400   Subject: ibmwr-ads For Sale 1978 R100S Red Smoke Category: Airhead R- bikes for sale 1978 R100S Red Smoke I am reluctantly listing this wonderful classic bike, but financial restraints forces the sale.  Bike is 2nd owner bike with 58k and original paint.  Runs purrrrfectly.  Beautiful Krauser bags.  Some minor chips on paint appropriate for age.  I was going to get it repainted ($850) but it looks great and you have to get within 5-10ft to see any flaws.  Paint shines GREAT, new seat cover on orig pan.  New mufflers, new tires.  Fresh tune and oil change 1k ago.  Odometer/trip meter quit working a short time ago (documented mileage) but speedo and tach function perfect.  The bike draws a lot of attention everywhere you go as is, but it is so clean that it would make a great full restoration showpiece.  Triple disc brakes, mag wheels.  New cables.  Carbs synced and run perfectly.  No smoke, small oil leak at neutral switch down low (easy fix but I haven't got to it as it only drops 2-4 drips after a good ride when parked).  Will email pics upon request.  This is a great bike and will not disappoint.  I will be taking it to the BMW Unrally ( Eureka Springs , Arkansas ) on Oct 7th-9th with intent to sell if not sold by then if you'd like to see it and ride it.  Thanks and ride safe.  Price: $3995 Location: Springfield , MO

Recent full tune up including ignition wires, spark plugs, points/condensor and total carb rebuild and oil pan gasket replaced.  I really don't want to sell, but military duty is causing me to liquidate this great airhead! Date: Sat, 8 Nov 2003 10:31:00 -0500   Subject: ibmwr-ads For Sale 1978 R100S Category: Airhead R- bikes for sale 1978 R100S One owner bike with RED SMOKE paint.  Has 55k on the clock which just broke not long ago and is documented (generous estimate is now 59k and speedo & tach work fine).  Bike runs great with carbs synced and fresh tune/points/plugs and oil/filter change.  Has new seat cover, mufflers, cables, tires.  Bike looks really good for age and has a few very minor nicks appropriate for it's age.  I have pics available for serious inquiries, just email me.  Has a light oil leak from the neutral switch and pan gasket is barely moist (this will be a cheap and easy repair).  Just purchased another new bike and wife says I gotta sell something.  This was going to be my project for a full restoration.  Bike is CLEAN and rust free including inside the tank.  You can ride it just like it is or do a full restore without much work and enjoy either way.  I will give it a good home for a very reasonable price.  Price is negotiable.  Price: $3950 OBO Location: Springfield , Missouri
