The BMW final drive is, by far, the most reliable part of the drive train. It can leak, wear out the spline drive and wear out the ring and pinion gears. Leaks are easy and splines can be replaced, but the gears are the life of the unit. Go to my page on this subject. I am all out of the pile of a dozen or so that I advertised here. I shall soon have a R90/6 (34/11) to add to this page. It is in unknown condition, but will be cleaned up and checked. If you are impatient, then email me to get me going.
