For the model year 1970, BMW came out with a totally new design in nearly all aspects. It was called the /5 and was made through 1973. In 1974, BMW modified the bike and the new designation was the /6. A lot of the /5 information is identical to the /6. In 1977 a new series came out that was called the /7.
