The Bag of sugar
Linda was staying with Larry’s family in Samara while Larry took me to Mongolia for a Ham Radio contest.
One morning when Linda got out of bed, some white crystal stuff was on the floor. The cat had gotten into a bag of something. Linda called attention to this to Tonya, Larry’s wife.
She explained that it was a bag of sugar. Sugar was rationed in Russia, but Larry’s connections he had gotten a large bag of sugar.
The sugar was hidden under the bed that Linda was using. During the night, the cat played with it, and some sugar had gotten scattered around on the floor. The cat wasted a little of this very rare commodity.
Linda was told to keep quiet about this as people would be very jealous and unhappy to hear about sugar in Larry’s apartment.
