This bulletin describes how the head locating countersink and locating sleeve in the cylinder barrel are now gone. The head gasket has been slightly modified too.
BMW went through a few iterations with the head gaskets. One such gasket was able to be installed backward. This allowed the pushrod to hit it and making a noise. I saw one pushrod nearly worn through from the rubbing.
